In order to compensate for the unavoidable CO² emissions of this product, we have decided, with the support of our partner Fokus Zukunft GmbH, to support a climate protection project in Mauritania by purchasing emission certificates.
The project is the first large-scale wind power plant in Mauritania, generating around 105,000 MWh per year. The goal of our involvement is to expand electricity generation from renewable energy sources. The electricity mix in Mauritania is mainly dominated by fossil fuel-based power plants. By promoting wind energy, dependence on fossil fuels can be reduced and natural resources conserved. Local jobs are created, which counteract poverty in the region.
